Which phone number types can you use for call tracking?

Short answer

Australian local numbers (02, 03, 07 and 08), 1300 numbers and 1800 numbers, but not mobile numbers or numbers outside Australia. Use the type that matches the number the business already shows, so the swap looks natural.

Which types are there?

Type Called in the Enfonica Console Looks like What the caller usually pays
Local Local 02, 03, 07 or 08, then eight digits A local call
1300 Shared-Rate 1300 975 707 About the cost of a local call, from anywhere in Australia
1800 Toll-Free 1800 975 707 Usually nothing

What a call actually costs the caller depends on their phone plan.

You select the type when you order numbers for a pool or a static number.

Which type suits the business?

Match the number the business already shows. The tracking script swaps the website's number for a tracking number, so a local number replaced with a 1300 number looks odd to visitors, and a business that offers toll-free calls should keep offering them.

  • Local suits a business that serves one area and wants to look local.
  • 1300 suits a business that serves the whole country.
  • 1800 suits a business that wants to offer toll-free calls.

Can you use mobile numbers?

No. Mobile numbers and numbers outside Australia aren't available as tracking numbers. Calls to a tracking number can still be answered on a mobile: the number forwards calls to wherever the business wants them to go. To learn how, see Route incoming calls.
