Get started¶
This page takes you from an accepted quote to your first attributed call. Each step links to a page with full details.
If you are an agency onboarding a client, start with Onboard a new client, which covers the quote as well. If you are an existing Enfonica customer adding Call Tracking to a project, create a tracking site first, then continue from step 2.
Before you begin¶
- The quote has been accepted and the account is active. If you set up the account yourself, you have a tracking site.
- You can sign in to the Enfonica Console. Agency team members sign in with their agency account; clients use the sign-in link from their welcome email.
- You know which pages of the website show the phone number, and what format the number is written in.
- You can edit the website's HTML or its Google Tag Manager container.
1. Open the tracking site¶
- Sign in to the Enfonica Console.
- If you are an agency team member, click Clients and select the client's site. Otherwise the site opens automatically.
The site's Overview shows a getting-started list that ticks off the steps below as you complete them and links to each screen. See Use the getting-started list.
Enterprise accounts
Sign in as usual, open the project, and choose Call Tracking in the product switcher. The site is the one you created; see Create a tracking site. See Two kinds of accounts.
The site was created when the quote was accepted. It already has the client's website domain in Allowed domains, the client's forwarding number as its first incoming call handler, and a regulatory listing for the client's business address.
2. Check where calls go¶
- Click Settings.
- Under Incoming call routing, check the handler. Calls to every tracking number in the site forward here unless a pool or static number overrides it.
- To add business-hours rules, failover or voicemail, add a Flow handler. See Route incoming calls.
3. Create a number pool and its rule¶
- Click Number pools > Add Pool.
- Enter a display name and click Create number pool.
- Under Rules, click Add rule. Enter the phone number as it appears on the website in Find Number, choose a Display Format, and click Create Rule.
See Create a number pool and its rules.
4. Add numbers to the pool¶
- Open the pool and click Add numbers.
- On the Auto-Provision tab, choose the number type, use the capacity calculator to set the quantity, and submit the order.
Numbers are provisioned within the hour and appear in the pool automatically. See Add numbers to a pool and Size a number pool.
5. Install the tracking script¶
- Click Settings and scroll to Tracking script.
- Click Copy script.
- Paste the script into the
<head>of every page of the website, or add it as a Custom HTML tag in Google Tag Manager.
See Install the tracking script and Install with Google Tag Manager.
6. Verify the installation¶
Visit the website with a UTM parameter in the URL and confirm the number changes to one of the pool's numbers. See Verify the installation.
7. Turn on recording and the consent message¶
- Click Settings and scroll to Call recording defaults.
- Set Call recording to Record on answer and Recording preamble to Enabled.
- Click Save Changes.
Recording is off for new sites. Read Call recording consent in Australia before you turn it on.
8. Connect Google Ads and Google Analytics¶
Click Integrations and connect the services the client uses. See Push call conversions to Google Ads and Send call events to Google Analytics 4.
9. Schedule email reports¶
Click Email reports and add recipients to the weekly, monthly and daily missed-call reports. See Schedule email reports.
10. Make a test call¶
- Visit the website from a link that includes
?utm_source=test&utm_medium=test. - Call the number shown on the page.
- In the Console, click Tracked calls. The call appears when it starts, and shows its outcome, attribution and confidence level once it ends.
What's next¶
- Add a static tracking number for offline sources.
- Turn on AI Call Insights.
- Learn how attribution works so you can explain results to the client.
